My parents, sister, Aunt Julie, cousin Sam, and Ross came to NC for a visit on June 16th. They stayed in Durham on Saturday night and we did a tour of Duke, the Duke Gardens, and the Durham area.
So good to see my sweet Dad. They drove to Nashville on Friday night and
then the rest of the way Saturday.
Dane grilled a very delicious dinner for us all.
Julie in Duke Gardens.
Sam, Ross, and Dane.
Mom and Julie admiring the flowers.
The Gardens had too many smells for Ross!
Family time.
Our first walk on the beach.
Loved our condo - First in Flight.
Ross loved his outdoor space on the balcony.
Beth built a shipwreck - this was the beginning.
Beth also took some great pictures of us on the beach.
...obviously these are not the pictures. ;)
We had a great dinner at the Black Pelican Restaurant.
We went on a driving tour down the coast on our last day - Thursday. Ross loved it.
Cape Hatteras
I loved having my family stay with us before and after vacation. Dane wasn't able to take time off from his Field Ed, so he was glad to visit with them in Durham as well. Dane, Beth, Sam, and I all slept downstairs on the couch and the floor at our house.
A few weeks ago, Dane and I went on a short weekend trip to visit our friends Karen and Zac in Charlotte where Zac is completely his Field Ed. Karen is a high school teacher and was able to join Zac for most of the summer. Dane and I had not explored Charlotte yet, and we wanted to check it out.
Downtown- across the road from the Nascar Hall of Fame.
Making plans.
Thanks to Karen and Zac for inviting us into your home. We had a wonderful time!!
Yesterday the Duke Div Spouse Group Leadership team hosted a baby shower for our dear friend Vail. Vail is also on leadership team. One of her dear friends from Virginia was also a hostess.
Karen painted an awesome sign for the shower! We used block letters. Dane helped us create the chevron pattern - an almost impossible task.
Vail was adorable in her maxi dress.
The yummy food! I love Karen's owl pitcher.
On the left in the tan tank top is Jamie - one of the hostesses.
My gift included a small baby toy - the O Ball. My babies at Duke love this toy! Lashelle is sitting to the right of Vail holding her son Cole. She was one of the hostesses.
Our dear friend Gwen and her son Jude.
Jude fell asleep.
We asked the guests to bring books instead of cards to help the Weigleins create a baby library.
Love this picture of Vail reading her book from Karen.
Our duplex seemed tiny with our 26 guests!
There were three mommies to be at the shower! Vail, Morgan, and Ashley.
Their due dates are 6 weeks apart starting with Vail.
Great friends.
The Books.
That is life lately. Life is full and busy. We are headed to AR in 2 weeks and I can't wait to see my family. My mom's birthday was Thursday and my Mamaw had surgery that day.
I am ready to see our families.
